Claire Granson, MC
Registered Provisional Psychologist
Working with Claire, you will find you can pause, reflect, and navigate life's challenges with support and understanding. It's not uncommon to feel overwhelmed by the fast pace of life or find yourself in a place that feels unfamiliar, uncomfortable or unwelcome. Claire understands the struggles that can arise, affecting both work and relationships, and she is here to guide you through.
Claire's approach is characterized by stepping back and examining problems from a fresh perspective. She is dedicated to helping you recognize the strengths you already possess, empowering you to leverage them for positive change in your situation, relationships, and overall confidence to face life's challenges head-on.
Believing in the importance of a strong support system, Claire emphasizes the role it plays in personal healing and growth. She can assist you in establishing positive, helpful, and trusted supports that will stand the test of time. This is particularly crucial for children and adolescents, as the relationships they form early in life shape their future and their ability to overcome obstacles. Claire brings valuable experience working with families, addressing behavioural issues, and fostering connections to build resilient family foundations.
Experience: Claire is a Registered Provisional Psychologist with a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from Athabasca University. She has worked with a broad range of clients, including adults, couples, and families. She has also undergone specialized training in Functional Family Therapy (FFT), a brief, evidence-based intervention that supports youth aged 11 to 18 who are at risk or facing emotional or behavioural issues. FFT engages the entire family and external influences to promote positive outcomes and development. Claire recognizes that every family has its own unique dynamics, so she tailors her approach to suit the specific needs of each family. With over 15 years of experience as a preschool teacher and soccer coach, she brings a warm, compassionate approach to her practice, helping to build strong relationships and guide individuals through key stages of life.
Client Focus: Claire specializes in working with Children (all ages), Adolescents, Adults, Couples, and Families.
Therapeutic Approaches: Claire integrates aspects of Emotionally Focused Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, CBT, and DBT into her practice.
Beyond Counselling: Claire's dedication to well-being extends beyond her professional life. An enthusiast of sports and fitness, she engages in activities such as squash, cycling in the city and mountains, and challenging workouts at the gym. Claire also enjoys travel, especially when she has the opportunity to attend football games in England or Germany with her family.
